How about come Christmas time the whole city make a big deal about decorating for Christmas-get the city government, the local businesses, the various neighborhood associations and other local organizations in on the act decorating houses, yards, and buildings. The city could promote Christmas light tours and so on. Besides being a fun thing to do it could work as a big draw for people from the surrounding area who might stop and spend a little money here while in town.

There are lots of options as to what this space could look like and how it could be setup: it could be supported by a Kickstarter, private donations, corporate sponsors, members-only access, public funds to support public access, partnerships with educational institutions, retail space to sell maker creations...the possibilities are quite literally very open right now.
For now, let's start getting together and see what the interest level is before we get into logistics. Maybe take a trip over to see the guys in Memphis to see what a local maker space and community looks like? Talk to the guys at ASU about their space that is in progress? Just gauge interest and build a list of actions that can be taken over the next few months.
If you are interested in being involved, please come to our initial Jonesboro Maker Space Interest Meeting on January 29 at 7pm at 308 S. Main Street. You can join the event on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1533526353594427

Everyday it's something different. And several times it seems it is juveniles. I think the city needs to be making more efforts to stem crime in Jonesboro and less worried over getting new money for roads.

This city is in desperate need of an improved drainage system. There needs to be be more drainage piping, channels, and drains. The city needs to hire a talented hydraulic engineer that can develop a plan and put it into action. A child almost died in the flooding on May 24, 2016. On south Culberhouse Street, north of Nettleton in the West End neighborhood, a number of houses were flooded and multiple cars got stuck in flood waters. Commercial areas and major streets were a wreck. The flooding on May 24th was particularly bad, but it was not a solitary event. Flooding is far too common of occurrence. If this city is really serious about improving quality of life and bringing in business, it needs to do something about its drainage problem. At the very least it should put the idea and way to fund it up for a vote.

I have not seen a city growing so much with no one way streets. just think, instead of having a 5 lane road going in two directions, you could have 5 lanes going in same direction. wow how much faster traffic could move. I know, you don't want changes, will your fixing to have it regardless!!!!

The Jonesboro tradition for the Fourth of July of planting cheap plastic flags at busy intersections and along streets quickly results in scenes like this https://youtu.be/ZcN5HRqwwF0.
This morning, July 4th, 2016 there are flags laying in the road at Caraway & Highland, and of course people are just driving over them.
This is a violation of AR Code § 5-51-207 - Contempt for or desecration of the United States flag.
.
We had this debate in The Sun in 2008, and Dacus Realty was shamed into stopping their desecration by this video https://youtu.be/zLw7vv_cCm4, and by letters to the editor from angry veterans.
A little help from local government or media would be helpful this time.
How is it that the Mayor and Council members are blind to this desecration? Did everyone go to the lake for the holiday?
I have tweeted photos & links to KAIT8 & The Sun, to Rick Crawford & Senators Cotton & Boozman.
I look forward to an official response to this desecration of our flag.

Please send an open invitation to Uber and Lyft to put Jonesboro on their prospective radar for expansion.
It would no only provide jobs and better travel service around town and to the airports, it would increase safety as young people could use them to get home from bars instead of drinking and driving.
